Up for sale, a 2020 Gibson Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, COA, and factory paperwork. This Historic Reissue instrument was hand-built in Gibson's celebrated Bozeman facility using the finest materials, faithfully executing the tonal and aesthetic details of a Pre-War SJ-200. Tonewoods include a select thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top with hot hide glue bracing, solid rosewood back and sides, and a premium ebony fingerboard and bridge.Described by Gibson as "King of the Flat-tops;" this SJ-200's Pre-War tonewoods have a sonic imprint distinct from the much more common SJ's that utilize maple for the back/sides. The definition of piano-like clarity and power, this SJ-200 has articulation and projection to spare. The bass register is rich and textured, with a high volume ceiling and just a touch of compression when digging in hard. The midrange frequencies are balanced and crisp, and the plain strings are sparkling with a round, present quality. Weighing 5lbs on the dot, this SJ-200 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with bronze 12-54 strings and easy-playing actionThe two-piece maple neck has Gibson’s “round D” profile carve, which is less shoulder-y than most conventional D shapes, falling closer to a moderately chunky C, with a round, inviting shape, measuring .860" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 9th. The bound ebony fretboard features graduated mother of pearl crown inlay and slender "banjo" fretwire which shows just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2. This Gibson plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1.725” in width. The bound headstock features the Gibson Pre-War script logo and Grover Imperial tuning machines with gleaming gold plating. On the body, the open mustache ebony bridge features mother of pearl inlay framing the bridge pins, and the saddle is carved from bone. The dark tortoise pickguard is also painstakingly made to Pre-War spec with a double line border and multi-colored inlay on the floral graphic. The VOS nitro lacquer finish is shot extremely thin to ensure maximum resonance, and the pores of the rosewood can be faintly felt through the gloss. There are just a few light pick scuffs on the bass side of the soundhole, and wear is otherwise limited to just a few exceedingly faint finish scratches and tiny marks on the body as a whole. The original era-correct black tolex "red line" hardshell case with purple interior is included, along with the COA, factory paperwork and accessories.
