Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Traditional Late '60s Stratocaster in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and Fender-branded gigbag. With a gloss three-tone Sunburst finish, this Strat was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. This instrument features period-correct details including a large headstock with block Stratocaster text, Fender F tuners, a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlay, and a white narrow bevel three-ply pickguard.
The trio of alnico magnet single coils have plenty of chime and sparkle, governed by a five-way pickup selector switch. The bridge pickup has great cut, while the in-between settings on the switch have quintessential Strat quack, and the neck pickup is bell-like and round. Weighing 7lbs 2oz, we've dialed in this Stratocaster here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius with perfect slender vintage-style fretwire that retains its full factory height. The guitar plays effortlessly up the 25 1/2" scale, and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the Fender F tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as they should, with a trio of staggered pole piece single coil pickups wired to USA-made CTS pots. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. The classic three-tone Sunburst gloss finish with white pickguard tops off the late '60s look, and the chrome hardware and plastic parts are pristine. Cosmetically, there's barely a scratch on the guitar.
The original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags are included.
