2020 Fender Traditional 60s Jaguar Offset Guitar Sunburst, Japan MIJ

Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Traditional 60s Jaguar electric guitar in 100% original condition and perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. This model was made exclusively for the domestic Japanese market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin.

A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jaguar platform, the new Traditional 60s model features Fender's V-Mod pickups, as well as USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, and USA Fender plastic parts. Tonally, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, and these gray bobbin single coils have a hotter wind with a flat pole piece design, offering more midrange emphasis. The pickups still dish out plenty of twang and snap in the top end, with a slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart and a balanced, sweet sound with great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds.

Top it off with more chrome than a Cadillac and you have the model that was Fender's flagship guitar when it was introduced in '62, with every bell and whistle Leo Fender and his team could think to include. This guitar weighs 8lbs 5oz, with a warm and clear acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jag plays very well with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a chunky and substantial U-shaped profile carve with particularly round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and flawless slender vintage-spec fretwire on the 24" scale. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The fretboard radius measures 9 1/2", and the nut has a 1 9/16" width. The headstock is fitted with Gotoh, Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

The electronics include individual on/off switches for each pickup on the Lead Circuit, in addition to the bass cut (or "strangle switch") on/off toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Rhythm Circuit has its own pair of Volume and Tone wheels in addition to the on/off toggle switch that engages this circuit, which adds a darker tone cap exclusively for use on the neck pickup. The vibrato unit is smooth and responsive, actuating easily for surfy warbles and dives. The chrome-plated hardware is bright and clean, and plastics include the original pair of knobs and deep reddish brown tortoise pickguard which shows some requisite pick scuffing on the treble side. Cosmetic wear on the three-tone Sunburst gloss includes an area of faint buckle rash just below the belly contour and some small scattered dings on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth with just a couple shallow marks on the carve behind frets 10-12.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
