Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Hybrid 68 Stratocaster in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. One of the finest (and now discontinued) limited run Strat iterations ever produced by Fender Japan, and a model not available in the USA market, the Hybrid 68 Stratocaster is simply stunning in its forward-thinking design and player-friendly features. The guitar features USA-made Fender black bobbin Pure Vintage 57/62 pickups, USA-made CTS pots, a bone nut, a slab maple cap fretboard with a modern radius and medium jumbo fretwire, and a silky smooth satin neck profile finish.

The perfect marriage of Vintage and Modern, the Hybrid 68 model is true to its name, yet the tonal range of the instrument is firmly in the Vintage camp. The alder body is a resonant, balanced tonal platform for the black bobbin Fender USA 57/62 pickups, which feature staggered, beveled alnico magnets and cloth-covered leads; delivering a clear, sparkling top end, smooth midrange character, and a full yet focused bass register that has a nice snap. This Hybrid 68 Stratocaster weighs 8lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The satin-finished maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The fretboard has a modern 10” (250mm) radius, and the medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, only exhibiting a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-2. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.595” (40.5mm) in width. The large headstock matches '68 spec with a block logo, large "with synchronized tremolo" text, and single string tree. The Fender "F" tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, and the “Made in Japan” text and JD20-prefix serial are present on the back of the headstock.

The Fender Pure Vintage 57/62 pickups are wired to USA-made CTS 250k pots and a five-way pickup selector switch. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, and the original two-point vibrato has been replaced with a vintage-style six-point iteration that actuates smoothly and bounces quickly back to pitch. Plastics comprise the three-ply white pickguard along with cream knobs and pickup covers.

The gloss Arctic White finish exhibits just a small cluster of faint marks and finish scratches behind the bridge on top. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is pristine.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the factory hangtags.
