Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition "Double Esquire" Thinline Relic in mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the hardshell case, COA, hangtags, and case candy.A unique spin on the Esquire/Telecaster platform with a stunning Black Paisley finish, the Double Esquire is distinguished by its wiring configuration. The semi-hollow body is constructed of roasted pine, paired with a substantial one-piece rift-sawn maple neck with a compound fretboard radius and 11/'56 off-center V profile carve. Featherweight at 5lbs 15oz, this Double Esquire has a woody snap, and a smooth, broad natural voice with exquisite articulation. On the three-way switch, in the Back position the bridge pickup is engaged, and what would conventionally be the Tone knob instead is a Pickup Blend, adding in the neck pickup to taste. The Middle position engages the neck pickup on its own, and all the way Forward, the neck pickup is engaged with a capacitor to sweeten and darken the sound, but not unusably so. This Double Esquire is dialed in with 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The rift-sawn maple neck has an 11/’56 off-center “V” profile carve. Ostensibly inspired by a neck shape made in late 1956, the neck is extremely substantial, sure to satisfy V purists and players that want the heft of a U profile, measuring .940" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. The "off-center" aspect of the carve is extremely subtle, and the profile has simulated palm wear down to the bare maple on the majority of the profile as part of the Relic process. The maple fretboard has a compound 7 1/4" to 9 1/2" radius fingerboard with flawless Narrow/Tall 6105 fretwire. These frets have the same width as vintage wire, yet with appreciably more height and crown for long fret life and effortless bending. The bone nut measures 1.650" in width, and the headstock features aged single line Kluson-style tuning machines, a round string tree, and "Custom Esquire" decal. The hand-wound ’50-’51 Blackguard pickup pair delivers a vital set of classic Fender tonalities, and in addition to the control wiring outlined above, the guitar also comes with a second pre-wired harness with conventional Telecaster three-way switching. Hardware includes the Reverse Nocaster bridge and RSD brass saddles which feature a split central D/G saddle for optimal intonation. The Black Paisley material is sealed with smooth gloss nitro lacquer, and the finish boasts its factory Relic treatment, accented by a single-ply eggshell Caballo Tono pickguard, showing virtually no wear outside the factory aging. The original G&G hardshell case, COA, hangtag, extra wiring harness, strap, and factory paperwork is included.
