Up for sale, a 2020 Fender American Performer Precision Bass in showroom clean condition and in perfect working order. An extremely versatile iteration of the Precision Bass platform, the Performer takes its cues from the American Deluxe and Ultra models, featuring both a traditional split-coil Precision pickup and a Jazz Bass single coil.
An alder-bodied bass with a satin-finished maple neck and thick slab rosewood fretboard, this Precision has a smooth, balanced tonal response loaded with a set of Fender's recently released Yosemite pickups. These pickups feature flat pole Alnico V magnets and Formvar-coated wire, shellac-coated to eliminate any unwanted feedback. The split-coil Precision pickup has an expressive, well-defined voice that’s highly musical and dynamic, and there's plenty of broad thump on tap with the Tone knob rolled back to taste. The Jazz bridge pickup offers more growl and burp with a defined upper midrange. The bass weighs 8lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has Fender's "Modern C" profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and just enough shoulder to feel substantial, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and 1.010" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features the original flawless medium jumbo frets and a 9.5“ radius, playing cleanly up the 34" scale. The nut is a slender, easily navigable 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the Hipshot/Fender tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch well, and these lightweight, high ratio gears eliminate any potential neck dive.
The stock electronics work as they should, with the PJ pickup configuration wired to individual Volume controls and a Master “Greasebucket” Tone control that rolls off highs without adding bass. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new including the top-loader four-saddle bridge and trio of knurled knobs, and the three-ply black pickguard contrasts with the bright Arctic White gloss finish. Cosmetically, this bass is showroom clean, with wear limited to a few pick scuffs across the pick path. The neck profile sports a flawless satin finish.
A gigbag is included.
