Up for sale, a 2020 Ernie Ball Music Man BFR Stingray 5 Special H fretless five-string bass in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell case, hangtags, CoA, and case candy. This rare Stingray was released as part of the Ball Family Reserve (BFR), representing top-tier, limited edition Ernie Ball Music Man offerings distributed exclusively through Music Man’s Premier Dealer Network. This BFR model had an edition size of 70 instruments.Lightweight at 8lbs 1oz, tonewoods include a roasted, heavily figured flame maple neck and an ash body. The humbucker has the muscle and power of a traditional StingRay sound, with great sweetness in the top end, a textured, vocal midrange quality, and detailed, punchy lows, capturing the full, rumbling scope of all five strings. The active electronics include a three-band EQ with boost/cut center-detent knobs and a three-way selector switch to toggle between Series, Parallel, and Single Coil sounds. This Stingray 5 Special has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-130 D’Addario Chromes flatwound strings and easy-playing action.The roasted flame maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders at the nut and a gentle increase in additional heft further up the fretboard, measuring .800” deep at the nut and .955” at the octave. The unlined fretboard has an 11” radius and side dots for easy navigation, playing cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The compensated nut measures 1 3/4“ in width. The headstock features lightweight Hipshot-made clover-button tuning machines.The active electronics are powered by two 9V batteries, and controls include a Master Volume knob, center detent Treble, Mid, and Bass EQ knobs, and the three-way Series/Single/Parallel selector switch. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, including the “Music Man”-embossed bridge and dome-topped knurled knobs.There's barely a scratch on the gloss Vintage Sierra Burst, and the gloss on the neck profile is similarly flawless, highlighting the dynamic tiger flame figuring on the roasted maple.The original molded hardshell case is included, along with the CoA, all hangtags, and case candy.
