Up for sale, a 2019 M. Campellone Standard Series archtop electric guitar in showroom clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original case.Since 1978, Mark Campellone has been involved with designing and building guitars inspired by the great orchestra-style archtops of the big-band era. With construction based on long-standing designs and decorative appointments both classic and original, each instrument is expertly crafted to exacting standards. The 17" wide body features a Venetian cutaway with a carved, hand-graduated top of solid AAA spruce, a carved, hand-graduated back of solid AA maple with matching solid maple rims, and a figured maple neck with ebony fingerboard. The natural projection of this Campellone archtop is prodigious, offering a dynamic, lively response with exquisite definition and well-tuned midrange forward chop which translates well through the floating mini humbucker. Plugged in, the sweet sound of the pickup compliments the archtop’s acoustic qualities, governed by pickguard-mounted Volume and Tone thumbwheel controls for a smooth blend of woody warmth and sparkle. The guitar weighs 6lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-50 roundwound strings and easy-playing action. The three-piece maple neck features deep ripples of curly flame extending the length of the profile. The profile shape is a slender C-shaped carve with ideal roundness in the shoulders, gaining more heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 9th. The bound ebony fingerboard features side dot position markers and pristine medium jumbo fretwire. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the carved bone nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The bound headstock features a pearl M. Campellone logo, stair-stepped truss rod cover, and gold Grover Rotomatic tuners with keystone buttons that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.On the body, the floating humbucker is mounted to the bound pickguard, complete with Volume and Tone thumbwheels, wired to a 1/4" endpin jack which anchors the trapeze tailpiece. The compensated ebony bridge is height adjustable with a full contact base. The top and back are bound, framing the two-tone Sunburst finish which showcases bookmatched straight tiger flame on the back and broader curly flame extending along the sides. The gloss finish is pristine.Few modern archtop builders have achieved the nigh spotless reputation of Campellone, a builder who has mastered all aspects of his craft and offers instruments that can keep pace with Gibson's finest '50s archtop models while also featuring unique design characteristics. And with an order backlog that can stretch as much as two years (and players who prize the Campallone guitars they own and aren't eager to let them go) few are ever available at any given time. The original hardshell case is included.
