Up for sale, a 2019 Fender Vintera '60s Mustang Bass in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A faithful reissue of the mid-60s Mustang Bass, this Vintera model features an alder body, maple neck, and slab pau ferro fingerboard. The split-coil "revoiced" pickup has a certain pluck and punch unique to the Mustang Bass that's particularly appealing and sits well in a mix, with a thump that fills out the low end nicely while being a bit more focused than a Precision Bass. Slightly more aggressive and midrange forward than a P Bass too, this Mustang Bass is strung with fresh roundwound 45-100 strings, delivering an articulate top end and a touch of growl. The instrument is lightweight at 7lbs 14oz, dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck features a round U-shaped neck profile carve with generous shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .875" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. On the pau ferro fretboard, the slender frets are flawless, and the bass plays cleanly up the 30" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the "lollipop" button chrome-plated Hipshot tuners turn very smoothly, and the block "Mustang Bass" logo is present on the headstock face.
The simple and straightforward electronics work as they should, with Master Volume and Tone controls governing the split coil pickup. The chrome bridge and control plate shine like new, and the pale mint green pickguard contrasts nicely with the Fiesta Red gloss finish. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few light pick scuffs on the guard, an absolutely tiny spot of buckle wear at the bass-side waist on the back, and just a couple additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
A padded gigbag is included.
