Up for sale, a 2019 Fender Traditional 60s Precision Bass in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This “Made in Japan” P Bass was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, faithfully capturing the look and tone of a genuine vintage instrument and sporting a custom color Surf Green gloss finish.
Tonewoods include a basswood body and a maple neck capped by a thick slab rosewood fretboard, and the bass is notably resonant and lively sounding acoustically, qualities translated faithfully through the stock split-coil pickup. The tone is broad and clear, with good top end sweetness and ample pillowy thump, particularly with the Tone knob rolled back. This Precision Bass weighs 8lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .825” at the 1st fret and .955” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, and the slender fretwire is practically perfect, with well-rounded crowns. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. On the headstock, nickel-plated clover button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the split-coil pickup governed by Master Volume and Tone controls. The chrome-plated hardware is very clean, including the flat-topped knurled knobs and bridge base with steel barrel saddles. Cosmetic wear on the custom color Surf Green gloss finish is limited to just a scant few minor dings along the lower bout perimeter. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.
A gigbag is included.
