Up for sale, a 2019 Fender Hybrid Jazzmaster in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags. A rare, discontinued FSR (Factory Special Run) model not intended for the USA market and only sold within Japan and to select international markets, this Jazzmaster features a custom color Indigo gloss finish.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jazzmaster platform, the Hybrid model features USA-made Fender Jazzmaster V-Mod single coils, as well as USA-made CTS pots, and locking Kluson-style tuners. The tonewood complement includes an alder body and a satin-finished maple neck with medium jumbo fretwire and a modern 9 1/2" radius. The maple fretboard ensures more treble detail and cut than a Jazzmaster with a traditional rosewood board, and the V-Mod pickups are wound with taller coils to create a narrower wire bundle, delivering enhanced mids while maintaining articulation. There's plenty of twang and sparkle via the three-way pickup selector, and warmer, wooly sounds are on tap when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Weighing 7lbs 15oz, the guitar balances well on a strap, dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The fretboard boasts a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the medium jumbo fretwire is clean as can be. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.675” (42.5mm) in width. The headstock sports a Pre-CBS-style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style locking tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, and the chrome hardware is positively gleaming. The plastic parts are also exceedingly clean, including the dimensional white pearloid pickguard which retains its protective factory film, indicative of the limited use this guitar has seen since new. The vibrato unit engages smoothly, and unlike later Hybrid models, this Jazzmaster has a vintage-style bridge with threaded saddles.
The gloss Indigo finish is notably well-kept, with wear limited to a handful of faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, plus a couple faint marks along the lower bout perimeter. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is immaculate.
A Gator-brand gigbag is included, along with the factory hangtags.
