Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Hybrid '60s Jazzmaster electric guitar in mint condition and perfect working order. A rare model featuring a custom color Olympic White gloss finish, this Jazzmaster comes complete with the original Fender-branded gigbag and manual. The guitar was also a limited run (now discontinued) model made exclusively for the domestic Japanese market and rarely seen outside its country of origin.
A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jazzmaster platform, the new Hybrid 60s model features USA-made Fender Jazzmaster V-Mod single coils, as well as USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, USA Fender plastic parts, and individually height adjustable barrel bridge saddles. The tonewood compliment includes an alder body, one-piece maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of powerful and defined tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Weighing 7lbs 14oz, the guitar balances well on a strap, with the factory setup further dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, featuring the factory 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation (string gauge/setup can be tweaked further to player preference prior to shipping).
The maple neck has a chunky C profile carve with very full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .925" at the 12th. The maple fretboard boasts a modern-spec 9 1/2" fretboard radius and tall, slender fretwire which shows only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5, playing cleanly in every register. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the nut measures just shy of 1 11/16" in width (42.5mm). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style locking tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, the chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and the plastic parts are in mint condition with the original clear protective factory plastic still intact over the black three-ply pickguard. The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the bridge which has individually height adjustable Mustang-style barrel saddles, offering more substance and stability than vintage Jazzmaster saddles. The gloss Olympic White finish is nigh flawless, save for a touch of very faint vertical finish checking on the back. The satin-finished neck profile is clean as can be.
This Hybrid '60s Jazzmaster is complete with the original hangtags and Fender-branded gigbag.
