2019 Fender Hybrid 60s Jaguar Vintage Reissue Offset Guitar FSR Charcoal Frost w/ Lollar Pickups, Japan MIJ

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 2019 Fender Hybrid 60s Jaguar in showroom clean condition and perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and upgraded with a pair of Lollar pickups. The Charcoal Frost gloss finish was a FSR (Factory Special Run) option, and this now discontinued Hybrid 60s model is a rare Made in Japan instrument, virtually unseen outside its country of origin.

A reinvention of Fender Japan's Jaguar platform, the Hybrid 60s model features USA-made CTS pots, Switchcraft switches, USA Fender plastic parts, and locking Kluson-style tuning machines. The Hybrid '60s model also boasts a modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius, larger fretwire, a smooth satin neck profile finish, and a new, rounder neck profile carve.

Tonally, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, and the upgraded black bobbin Lollar pickups are ideal for faithfully capturing a vintage-centric range of sounds with plenty of twang and snap in the top end, and the slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart. The pickups have a balanced, sweet sound with great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds. This alder-bodied guitar weighs 8lbs 6oz, with a warm, clear acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jag plays very well with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a modestly chunky C-shaped profile carve with particularly round shoulders and a substantial feel, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th. While the fretboard is a veneer in the strictest sense, the thickness of the rosewood is actually more substantial than most “slabs." The fretwire is flawless on the 24" scale, and notes ring out clearly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The fretboard radius measures 9 1/2", and the bone nut measures 1.650" (42mm) in width. The headstock features the original Kluson-style locking tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch exceptionally well even with liberal vibrato use.

All of the electronics function as intended, with individual on/off switches for each pickup on the Lead Circuit, in addition to the bass cut (or "strangle switch") on/off toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Rhythm Circuit has its own pair of Volume and Tone wheels and an on/off toggle switch that engages this circuit, which adds a darker tone cap exclusively for use on the neck pickup. The vibrato unit is smooth and responsive, actuating easily for surfy warbles and dives and working in concert with the bridge which has individually height-adjustable barrel saddles. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new and plastic parts are near mint save for a bit of light pick scuffing on the treble side of the pale mint green pickguard. The Charcoal Frost body finish has barely a scratch on it, and the satin-finished neck profile is equally pristine.

The original Fender padded gigbag is included along with the factory hangtags.

***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge and Mastery OMV-P Offset Vibrato, either of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
