Up for sale, a 2019 Fender Hybrid 50s Precision Bass in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. A discontinued FSR (Factory Special Run) model finished in custom color Charcoal Frost Metallic, the Hybrid 50s model is an upscale bass which was produced exclusively for Japan and select international markets, uncommon outside its country of origin.
Forward thinking in its feature set and blending traditional and modern appointments, the Hybrid 50s model boasts a factory-installed Fender USA Vintage pickup, a satin neck profile finish, modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius, and medium jumbo fretwire. The instrument features the classic tonewood pairing of an alder body and maple neck, and acoustically, the bass has a smooth, balanced sound, lively and lightweight at only 8lbs 3oz. The USA-made pickup delivers both broad thump and great treble articulation, with a traditional Precision tonal palette. This P Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.
The one-piece maple neck has a fairly substantial U-shaped profile carve with generous, inviting shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .995” at the 12th. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, dot inlay, and flawless medium jumbo fretwire, playing cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.675" (42.5mm) in width, carved from bone for optimal sustain and clarity. On the headstock, the clover button tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with long stems and full-size baseplates. The “Made in Japan” text and JD19-prefix serial are present on the back of the headstock.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the split-coil pickup governed by Master Volume and Tone controls. In addition to the USA-made pickup, the pots are also USA-made CTS components. The chrome-plated hardware is positively gleaming, including the flat-topped knurled knobs, bridge base, and steel barrel saddles. The custom color gloss Charcoal Frost Metallic has barely a scratch on it, and the satin finish on the neck profile is similarly pristine.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the factory hangtags.
