Up for sale, a 2019 Fender Flea Signature Road Worn Jazz Bass loaded body paired with a Fender roasted maple neck, complete with a molded hardshell case. Designed to be faithful recreation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist’s 1961 “Stack Knob” Jazz Bass, this Fender captures the tonal profile and aesthetics of Flea’s beloved original.

With an alder body, this bass has a smooth, articulate natural acoustic voice that is faithfully captured by the USA-made Fender Pure Vintage ‘64 Jazz Bass single coil pickups. These pickups deliver quintessential Jazz Bass tonalities; there’s ample midrange sweetness, growl and punch, with a clear treble register that offer great clarity and presence. This Flea Jazz Bass weighs 8lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.

The roasted maple neck is a genuine Fender replacement with flame figuring extending the length of the profile. The neck has a moderately slender, fast-feeling U-shaped profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and well-rounded shoulders, gaining appreciably more heft and roundness in the upper registers, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the slender fretwire is pristine, playing cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. On the headstock, the clover-button tuning machines have Fender-embossed full-size, vintage spec baseplates and exhibit heavy faux aging, matching the replacement four-bolt F neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended; the Pure Vintage ‘64 pickups are wired to the stock harness with CTS pots that date to '19. The stacked controls included dedicated Volume and Tone knobs for each single coil. The hardware is all quite clean, including the knurled knobs, control plate, bridge base, and vintage-style threaded barrel saddles. The four-ply dark red tortoise pickguard rounds out the plastics.

The Road Worn Shell Pink lacquer finish does a good job faithfully approximating the natural playwear on Flea's bass, and beyond the factory relic, there’s sparingly little additional wear on the instrument. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile feels fast in the palm and highlights flame figuring in the roasted maple, with a handful of shallow nicks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting.

A Gator-brand molded hardshell case is included.
