This discontinued custom color example features a Charging Green gloss finish, and tonewoods include an ash body and roasted maple neck, ensuring a natural authority, midrange complexity and treble grind.The bass retains the muscle and power of the traditional StingRay humbucker, and the pickup has been redesigned for this particular iteration to maintain the power and presence of its big brother, boasting neodymium magnets. The passive humbucker is coupled to a 18-volt active preamp and 3-band EQ for maximum sonic flexibility. The pickups are punchy, round, and articulate, with innovative five-way switching for single coil options in addition to the traditional humbucker modes. Other features include Music Man's modern classic bridge, stainless steel fretwire, and new lightweight Music Man tuning machines with a finer gear ratio. The bass weighs 8lbs 13oz, dialed in to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action and spot-on intonation.The roasted maple neck has a medium depth C-shaped profile carve with Music Man's gunstock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend on the profile for a silky smooth feel. The profile has round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .945" at the 12th. The stainless steel medium jumbo fretwire is flawless, playing easily up the 34" scale length. The intonated nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock has clover button tuning machines, lightweight to eliminate neck dive with tapered posts.The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, with a top-loader steel bridge plate and vintage nickel plated steel saddles. There's just a few faint pick scuffs on the white multi-ply pickguard, and the gloss Charging Green metallic finish has barely a scratch on it. The satin gun oil finish on the neck profile is flawless.The original molded Music Man hardshell case is included, with some light scuffing on the case lid.
