Up for sale, a 2019 Divided by 13 EDT 13/29 1x12” combo amplifier in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. Divided by 13’s amps are all built by hand, one at a time, with top notch components used throughout. The EDT 13/29 combo is a notably versatile, potent amp with a surprisingly dynamic array of tones on tap via the streamlined control configuration.
A single-channel, dual-input design, this combo expands on Divided by 13’s much-lauded SJT 10/20, featuring a pair of KT66 power tubes with a custom transformer. The main weapon of this amp is the titular 13/29 watt Class switch, which toggles between ‘50s-style tweed tones in Class A (13 watt) mode or big, bold muscle at a full 29 watts in a Class AB1/A configuration. The Gold Lion KT66 tubes give the American-style cleans a glassy shimmer, with added harmonic content and creaminess when driven. Simple, user-friendly controls include Reverb, Bass, Treble, and Volume knobs, each with an impressively wide sweep, and there is a push/pull Mid/Gain Boost at the Volume knob for an extra kick. When dialed up, this amp absolutely rips, with full, fat breakup starting around 5 on the dial, only getting more rich and powerful as volume increases. The Dampening/Flattening switch enables tonal control at all levels, and the Reverb is lush and three-dimensional.
The tube complement comprises a matched pair of Gold Lion KT66s, a GZ34 rectifier, and a preamp section of two EC883s, one 12AT7, and one 12AX7. The speaker is a Celestino G12 Vintage 30: this classic speaker is remarkably detailed, with complex overtones, warm lows, and a vocal midrange that results in a notably three-dimensional response. The cabinet is dated to 8-3-19.
Cosmetic touches include fawn tolex, black grillcloth, and a red light-up “÷13” badge and jewel lamp. There are just a couple faint marks on the enclosure, and the original quartet of chicken head knobs are present on the pristine control panel.
