Up for sale, a 2018 Paul Reed Smith Wood Library McCarty 594 10 Top in excellent condition, complete with the original hardshell case. Jaw-dropping in its presentation, tight, dimensional tiger flame extends liberally across every inch of the top. The Wood Library is similar to PRS' Private Stock in that it's an elaborate menu-based program for the PRS Core line. This particular McCarty 594 deviates from the model's traditional tonewoods with a heavily figured flame maple neck. Other tonewoods adhere to the model's traditional construction with a maple top, mahogany back, and a highly desirable Brazilian rosewood fretboard.
Resonant, lively and nuanced acoustically, these qualities are translated faithfully via the humbucker pair. The 58/18 LT humbuckers are only available from PRS loaded in one of their instruments (not sold separately), and these highly prized low-wind PAF-style pickups are extremely articulate, sweet, and expressive. Both pickups have dedicated push/pull coil taps on the Tone controls as well for sparkling, snappy single coil tonalities. This PRS weighs 8lbs 6oz, strung with 10-46 strings and dialed in for low action and spot-on intonation.
The flame maple neck has PRS' Pattern Vintage profile carve, an asymmetrical shape that maximizes performance and comfort, offering plenty of substance and measuring .875" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard has a 10" radius with medium jumbo frets that have their full height, showing light wear beneath the plain strings (primarily B and High E) on frets 1-12. The "birds in flight" inlay is a unique spin on this PRS classic, with Green Ripple Abalone outlines and white Mother of Pearl centers. The guitar plays effortlessly up the 24.594" scale length, and the carved bone nut measures 1 11/16". The headstock has a Brazilian rosewood veneer with open-gear (non-locking) tuning machines that turn smoothly and have excellent stability.
The electronics function flawlessly, and hardware shows pick wear through the plating on the bridge pickup cover, while the brass and smoked black chrome bridge hardware is otherwise notably clean as are the plastics. The high gloss Black Gold Burst finish frames the extremely tight and consistent straight tiger flame extending across every inch of the top, framed by maple binding. There is very light, localized pick wear on the treble side of the strum path, and just a few additional microscopic marks and faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the flame maple neck is flawless.
The original hardshell case is included.
