Up for sale, a 2018 Nash Guitars JM63, thoroughly upgraded from stock here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar. Featuring a Nash Surf Green nitro lacquer-finished relic'd offset body and corresponding neck as its foundation, every aspect of this guitar has been upgraded with brand new boutique components to deliver the Space Age Offset wonder the Guitar Bar's Service Department has dubbed "Elroy."
Upgrades include a Master M1 bridge and corresponding OMV-P vibrato tailpiece with UFO tip, Curtis Novak GT-V Guyatone-inspired gold foils in custom Jazzmaster surrounds, a plexi Decoboom "Space Oddity" pickguard, custom 3D printed white Rhythm Circuit rollers, and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines.
This Jazzmaster delivers a broad range of Japanese gold foil-inspired tones, and these Curtis Novak pickups offer a smoothness and present (yet not overbearing) punch in addition to plenty of treble detail and glassy snap. All three positions on the switch are very distinct, and the neck pickup is broad and smooth while retaining definition and a woody, percussive cut. The guitar weighs 8lbs 5oz, professionally setup with low action and fresh 11-49 strings.
The maple neck has a round, substantial 50s-style C profile carve with generous shoulder and ample heft in every register, measuring .880" deep at the 1st fret and 1.005" at the 12th. The thick rosewood slab fretboard features a 12" radius and perfect fretwire which has a bit more width and overall meat than vintage-size wire, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale. The nut measures 1.650" in width, and the headstock retains Nash's signature on the back and serial number on the top edge. The Nash Guitars text was removed from the headstock face prior to our receipt of the instrument, with an extra coat of ambered nitro on the face to smooth out any imperfections. The headstock is fitted with a set of brand new Kluson Deluxe double line tuning machines.
All of the electronics function as intended with Nash's wiring harness boasting CTS pots, premium tone caps, and cloth-covered leads. The Curtis Novak GT-V gold foils feature traditional Jazzmaster-shaped ivory plastic surrounds, and a pair of Dakaware pointer knobs and custom white Rhythm Circuit rollers round out the plastics. While Nash favors a different bridge and vibrato complement for their instruments, here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar we find the Mastery bridge and corresponding vibrato to be the pinnacle of Offset Guitar function and design. The bridge boasts a pair of hard chrome-plated brass saddles and ensures optimal tonal transfer from the strings to the body. The saddles are self-lubricating and the bridge works in concert with the vibrato, painstakingly designed to meet and even exceed the performance of Fender's Pre-CBS era hardware. The vibrato allows for broad gestures, quick flutters, and surfy warbles, reliably returning to the original pitch.
The Surf Green nitro lacquer finish features Nash's light relic treatment, and there's no discernible wear beyond this simulated aging. The neck profile gloss is also worn to the bare maple on the majority of the profile as part of the relic process.
The original Nash hardshell case and hangtag are included.
