Up for sale, a 2018 Mesa/Boogie Triple Crown TC-50 1x12 in showroom clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with custom white tolex, complete with the original footswitch and slip cover. Hand-built in Petaluma, CA, the TC-50 offers a bevy of available modes and tones thanks to its three footswitchable channels and myriad of possible adjustments, as well as a diverse suite of modern output options to allow for maximum versatility in the studio, live, or at home. The TC-50 is also remarkably user-friendly thanks to its repetitive control layout, wherein each of the three channels is governed by essentially the same set of six controls. All three channels feature the following knobs: Gain, Master Volume, Presence, Bass, Mid, and Treble. Each channel also has a mini toggle to switch between two modes, effectively giving this amp six distinctive channel voicings.Channel One (“Clean”) features a pristine and well-balanced clean tone; with rich, bubbly bloom and plenty of sweetness. Flipping the Norm/Drive switch to Drive pushes the tone slightly, giving it an edge-of-breakup sound and a bit more insistence.Channel Two (“Lo”) is the first of the two Drive-forward channels, configured to a “modern crunch” setting. This channel is a bit brighter and breaks up much quicker than Channel One, allowing for a bit of bluesy burn. Channel Two is also highly responsive, reacting organically to the input signal and replicating picking intensity. Flipping the Norm/Tight switch reigns in the bottom frequencies slightly and gives a boost in the midrange for a bit more punch.Channel Three (“Hi”) pushes the gain even further to a sound that Mesa/Boogie describe as “full-blown, yet controlled, mayhem.” When the Gain knob is below noon, this Channel delivers fat, heavy crunch. When Gain is pushed into the upper limits, the TC-50 opens up into a howling beast with remarkable sustain and absolutely monstrous drive tone. At the time of the TC-50’s release, Mesa/Boogie described the upper reaches of Channel Three's Gain knob as offering “surely the most saturation available from any Mesa amplifier, past or present.” The switch on Channel Three is another Norm/Tight toggle, which acts very similarly to the one on Channel Two, pushing the TC-50 even further into harmonic-laden, screaming goodness. The TC-50’s tube complement features a matched pair of EL34 power tubes, and the preamp features six 12AX7s and a 12AT7, all of which are the original Mesa-branded valves. Thanks to the Bias Select Switch, the TC-50 can also function with 6V6 or 6L6 power tubes for a warmer, rounder vintage-style sound. The speaker is a Celestion Vintage 30 12” ceramic magnet driver. The TC-50 also has Mesa/Boogie’s proprietary all-spring Reverb unit that produces a rich, three-dimensional halo when engaged. Reverb levels can be independently set for each channel on the back of the amp, and there is a Reverb toggle included on the footswitch for maximum ease of use while playing. There is also a “hidden reverb kill” input on the chassis, bypassing the effect. Also included on the footswitch are a toggle for the EFX Loop and a toggle to engage the Solo boost function, which is an independent volume control (front right of interface, next to Master Output). The TC-50 is more than comfortable in a recording environment thanks to the inclusion of switchable MIDI functionality and Mesa/Boogie’s CabClone onboard D.I., which can greatly alter the tonal output of the unit through a trio of simulated amp styles including Vintage, Open, and Closed Back tones. Further options on the back panel include switchable 8 ohm/4 ohm impedance and a Speaker On/Off switch.Cosmetic wear on the Hot White bronco tolex is practically nonexistent, and the tolex is framed by black leather corners and topped off with a premium leather handle. The footswitch and cable is included, along with the Mesa/Boogie-branded slip cover.
