Up for sale, a 2018 G&L Fullerton Standard JB in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag, COA, and factory spec sheet/hangtags. As the third instrument company founded by Leo Fender, G&L's instruments benefited from Leo's decades of experience at Music Man and (of course) Fender. Produced at the same Fullerton, CA factory as the early Music Man guitars, this Fullerton JB expands and updates the classic Jazz Bass platform with a few modern, player-friendly touches including a Saddle-Lock bridge and a 9 1/2“ fretboard radius.The tonewood complement includes an alder body, hard rock maple neck, and thick slab Chechen fingerboard, and this bass has a clear, warm acoustic profile, qualities faithfully captured by the stock G&L JB Alnico V single coil pickups. These pickups deliver classic JB tonalities with midrange burp, a touch of growl, and exceptional articulation. Weighing 9lbs 10oz, this G&L bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The thick slab Chechen fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the medium jumbo fretwire is flawless. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2” in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the G&L Ultra-Lite tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with clover buttons and clean chrome plating.All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups wired to CTS pots and governed by JB standard Volume/Volume/Tone controls. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, including the control plate and the Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge, which features chrome-plated brass saddles, transferring string energy right into the body end-grain and resulting in an incredibly resonant instrument. Plastics include the original trio of knobs and the replacement three-ply black pickguard; the original white pickguard is present in the case.The Ruby Red Metallic finish is dark and rich with dense, subtle metalflake, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few minor nicks along the lower bout body edge and a few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is pristine.The original G&L-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the original pickguard, spec sheet/hangtags, and COA signed by Phyllis Fender (wife of Leo).
