Up for sale, a 2018 Fender Jean-Ken Johnny signature model Jaguar in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A signature model for the guitarist and rapper of Japanese rock band Man With A Mission, the Jean-Ken Johnny model is made in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin (not offered in the US market). This Jaguar is a unique take on the classic Fender platform, pairing a P-90 overwound single coil in the neck position with a USA-made Seymour Duncan zebra bobbin TB-4 Trembucker at the bridge. Other unique features include Fender-branded Gotoh locking tuners, a Hipshot GT-2C "D-Dropper" on the low E string for on-the-fly Drop D tuning, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, and Buzz Stop mounted to the vibrato for increased break angle.
Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard with a modern 9 1/2" radius and medium jumbo fretwire, and the guitar has a smooth, dynamic natural acoustic tone. While the P-90 in the neck position delivers plenty of glassy snap, midrange cut, and rich growl, the TB-4 Seymour Duncan is their original hot-rodded humbucker. The low end is full and powerful, the highs are crisp and detailed, and the TB-4 has an upper-midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords that translates to a singing, vocal-like quality when playing single notes or solos. The guitar weighs 8lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with very full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, providing ideal substance and chording effortlessly, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, playing cleanly up the 24" scale with flawless medium jumbo fretwire. The bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock features Gotoh-made, Fender-branded locking tuning machines for optimal stability. The Low E string also has Hipshot's GT-2C "D-Dropper" for instant drop tuning.
The electronics function flawlessly, with a three-way pickup selector switch governing the P-90/humbucker pair, coupled to Master Volume and Tone knobs. The hardware shines like new and the plastics are equally as clean, save for a few light pick scuffs on the treble side of the mint green pickguard. Hardware includes the Tune-o-Matic bridge and Buzz Stop mounted to the vibrato tailpiece, which has a smooth and deliberate response for warbles and deeper dives. There's barely a scratch on the Candy Apple Red gloss finish, save for just one tiny pinhead-sized nick on the back. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag, hangtags, and sticker are included.
