Up for sale, a 2018 Fender Japan Exclusive Classic 60s Stratocaster in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. With a rare gloss Candy Apple Red finish paired with all gold hardware, this Made in Japan Strat was sold exclusively to the Japanese domestic market (as the model name would suggest) and had a particularly short production run, thus rarely seen outside its country of origin.
For authoritative single coil cut, it's hard to beat this particular ceramic magnet single coil pickup complement. These pickups have more punch and power than the more common alnico magnet pickups and sound distinct and clear in all positions on the five-way switch. Weighing 7lbs 11oz and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Strat is strung with fresh 10-46 strings, dialed in for low action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve which borders on the chunky side of things with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius and slender vintage-style frets which show no wear with flawless crowns. The guitar plays effortlessly up the 25 1/2" scale, and the nut measures 42mm (1.650") in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as they should, with a trio of staggered pole piece single coil pickups with ceramic magnets wired to full-size USA-made CTS pots. The vibrato has a full-size block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. The rare gold-plated hardware is extremely clean save for light patina on the neck plate, and the near mint plastics include a pale mint green pickguard and ivory pickup covers and knobs. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Candy Apple Red finish is limited to just a few faint finish scratches and tiny nicks. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
