Up for sale, a 2018 Fender Hybrid 60s Stratocaster Quilt Top in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Offered in sparingly small quantities, this FSR (Factory Special Run) model features a heavily figured quilted maple top on an alder body. highlighted by a Transparent Red gloss finish. One of the finest (and now discontinued) Strat iterations ever produced by Fender Japan, and a model not available in the USA market, the Hybrid '60s Stratocaster is simply stunning in its forward-thinking design and player-friendly features. The guitar features USA-made Fender black bobbin American Vintage 57/62 pickups, USA-made CTS pots, a two-point vibrato unit, locking vintage-style tuners, a thick slab rosewood fretboard with a modern radius, and a silky smooth satin neck profile finish.

The perfect marriage of Vintage and Modern, the Hybrid '60 model is true to its name, yet the tonal range of the instrument is firmly in the Vintage camp. The alder body and maple top yield a resonant, articulate tonal platform for the black bobbin Fender American Vintage 57/62 pickups, which feature staggered, beveled alnico magnets and cloth-covered leads. These pickups deliver a clear, sparkling top end, smooth midrange character, and a full yet focused bass register. Lightweight at 7lbs 6oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a highly playable, medium depth U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders, lightly rolled fretboard edges, and ideal heft, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The thick rosewood slab fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, and the stock narrow tall fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm in width (1.675"). The headstock features Gotoh Magnum Lock Top locking tuners which provide a much more rigid string contact point, eliminating the need to wind the strings around the posts and reducing friction. The tuners also have a staggered post design for better break angle across the nut. The “Made in Japan” text and JD18-prefix serial are present on the back of the headstock.

All of the electronics function flawlessly, with the Fender American Vintage 57/62 pickups wired to USA-made 250k CTS pots and a five-way pickup selector switch. The modern two-point vibrato has flawless chrome plating, and the plastic parts comprise cream pickup covers and knobs and a three-ply pale mint green pickguard.

The Transparent Red finish highlights deep, dimensional figuring which extends liberally across the quilted maple top. Cosmetic wear is limited to a tiny area of light buckle worming on the back central to the waist and just a scant few small dings and faint finish scratches on the body as whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is flawless and highlights subtle flame figuring in the maple.

A padded softshell case is included.
