Up for sale, a 2018 Fender Hybrid 60s Jazz Bass in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and upgraded with a premium Fender molded hardshell case. Made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and select international territories, the Hybrid ‘60s Jazz Bass is an upscale, discontinued model that blends old and new, featuring a pair of Fender USA Vintage pickups, USA-made CTS pots, a satin neck profile finish, a carved bone nut, and modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius on the slab rosewood fretboard.
The instrument features the classic tonewood pairing of an alder body and maple neck capped with a thick slab rosewood fretboard. Acoustically, the bass has a smooth, balanced sound, and the pair of factory-installed Fender USA Vintage Jazz Bass pickups deliver strong note attack and excellent sustain. The bridge pickup has the power, burp, and presence that helps a Jazz Bass cut through in ensemble situations, and it's easy to dial in the right amount of midrange growl and fundamental thump when balancing the sound between the two single coils. The tone can get quite broad too, simply by rolling off the bridge pickup Volume and Master Tone control, for a thick sound that doesn't lack definition. The bass weighs 9lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 45-105 strings, dialed in for comfortable action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and 970" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the slender fretwire is pristine, playing cleanly in all registers up the 34" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 1/2" in width, and on the headstock, the long stem clover button tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well with flawless nickel plating and full-size baseplates. The peghead also sports a correct '62-style "Fender Jazz Bass" decal.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, including the pair of factory installed USA-made Fender Vintage pickups wired to USA-made 250k CTS pots. The chrome bridge base and control plate shine like new, the red tortoise pickguard still retains the factory protective film over the tortoise material. The gloss Arctic White finish exhibits only a very small area of light buckle worming on the back. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The bass is complete with a premium USA Fender molded hardshell case, along with the factory hangtags.
