Up for sale, a 2018 Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition "Wildwood 10" 1965 Jazzmaster Heavy Relic in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original COA and hardshell case. This limited run Custom Shop model was available through a single dealer (Wildwood Guitars), with unique features including a 10" fretboard radius, 6105 narrow/tall fretwire, and a Black-finished peghead to compliment the Sunburst "thin skin" nitro lacquer finish.
Notably resonant and lively at 7lbs 11oz, the RSD bridge design further enhances the sustain and richness of the instrument's natural acoustic sound in contrast to a vintage-style Jazzmaster bridge. Tonewoods include an alder body, a quartersawn AA flame maple neck, and bound rosewood fretboard. The single coil pickups deliver the rich detail, chime, and body associated with the Jazzmaster model, wound to original spec with flat alnico pole pieces and black fiber bobbins. The bridge pickup has a sweet midrange cut and sparkling spank, while the neck pickup has more girth and roundness without sacrificing clarity. Switch to the Rhythm Circuit on the bass side body horn, and the neck pickup achieves even more thickness and low end power. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jazzmaster is dialed in with low action, spot-on intonation, and 11-49 strings.
The neck has Fender's "60s Style Oval C" profile carve, slim and fast-feeling at the nut with additional heft further up the fretboard, measures .790" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th. The guitar features a modern 10" fretboard radius on the bound AAA Indian rosewood fretboard, and the narrow/tall 6105 fretwire shows only very light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. The guitar plays effortlessly in every register with notes that ring out clearly up the straight neck. The bone nut measures 1.650" in width. On the unique Black-finished headstock, the Kluson-style Fender-branded single line tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well, and the
Limited Edition Custom Shop badge is present on the back.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, and hardware includes the RSD bridge which has a pair of large brass saddles, ensuring a resonance and stability beyond vintage-style Jazzmaster bridges. The vibrato has a smooth and responsive feel, and the chrome plating is bright and clean. The three-tone Sunburst "Thin Skin" nitro lacquer finish is lightly applied for maximal resonance, and there is no discernible cosmetic wear beyond the Fender factory Heavy Relic aging.
The original brown tolex G&G hardshell case is included, along with the COA, Floor Traveler build sheet, and Custom Shop strap.
