Up for sale, a 2018 Duesenberg Paloma in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Designed for maximum versatility and comfort, this eye-catching Dusenberg features an HSS pickup complement, gloss Red Sparkle finish, and Diamond Deluxe Tremola.Tonewoods include an alder body, a one-piece maple neck, and a rosewood fretboard, and this guitar has a resonant, airy acoustic profile with ample midrange warmth, faithfully captured by the trio of Duesenberg proprietary pickups. In the bridge position is a GrandVintage humbucker, a PAF-flavored pickup with punchy lows, singing highs, and a slight midrange scoop to ensure optimal clarity whether clean or with gain. The neck position single coil is an Alnico Blade and the middle position is a Pearlito; these pickups were specially designed to cover a wide range of single coil tonalities, from sweet, transparent snap to funky “in-between” sounds, easily accessed at the four-position rotary selector switch. This Duesenberg weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The one-piece maple neck has a medium D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The bound Indian rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius with pearloid diamond inlay and pristine jumbo fretwire; like all Duesenberg instruments, this fretboard has been expertly Pleked for buzz-free playability in every register. The neck is straight, and the dual-action truss rod is responsive and optimally-adjusted. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the nut measures 1.67” (42.5mm) in width. The headstock has an Art Deco-esque nickel-plated truss rod cover, and the Duesenberg-embossed Z-Tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. All of the electronics function as intended, with the HSS pickup complement wired to the stock harness, governed by a four-position rotary pickup selector and Master Volume and Tone controls. The nickel-plated hardware is all notably clean, including the knurled knobs, ABR-1-style bridge, pickup surrounds, and Diamond Deluxe Tremola vibrato. This Bigsby-style Tremola is notably responsive and buttery smooth, offering exceptional stability and ease-of-use for shimmering warbles and flutters. It’s also quite lightweight, but the heavy-duty needle and nylon bearing ensure functionality is not sacrificed for the sake of comfort. The four-ply, two-piece pearloid pickguard rounds out the plastics. The gloss Red Sparkle finish is bright and bold, with a generous application of metal flake, framed on top by cream binding. This is an exceptionally well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to a scant few faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original hardshell case is included.
