Up for sale, a 2017 Martin Custom Limited Edition D-28 Brazilian Rosewood dreadnought acoustic guitar in showroom clean condition with the original case and Custom Shop paperwork. One of a very limited, one-time run of 50 instruments worldwide, this Martin features solid bookmatched Brazilian rosewood back and sides paired with an Adirondack spruce top, and framed by herringbone binding.
A real cannon in terms of projection, this Martin has incredible detail, thanks in no small part to the scalloped, forward-shifted X bracing on the top. The guitar delivers Martin’s piano-like clarity and perfect string-to-string balance, absolutely sparkling and rich in its response with power to spare and an extremely high volume ceiling without distortion. A soft strum yields a velvety sound with shimmering trebles and smooth, rumbling bass, while authoritative picking rewards the player with ample volume, presence, and complexity.
Top things off with an ebony fingerboard and bridge, hide glue construction, snowflake fretboard inlay, drop-in saddle, and open-gear butterbean Grover tuners, and you have an instrument that's representative of the acoustic guitar model which has been the benchmark for excellence for almost 90 years. This Martin has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in with 12-53 strings and comfortable action.
The mahogany neck has Martin's Low Profile neck carve, a medium C shape which chords comfortably and measures .835" deep at the 1st fret, graduating to .885" at the 9th. On the thick slab ebony fretboard, the guitar sports snowflake inlay and flawless fretwire, playing effortlessly up the 25.4" scale. The carved bone nut measures a full 1 3/4" in width, with plenty of room for fingerstyle playing and accurate flatpicking. The headstock features vintage-style Grover open-gear butterbean tuners.
On the body, the ebony bridge is fitted with the compensated drop-in bone saddle which has ample height, and the Adirondack spruce top is accented by a black pickguard, framed by herringbone binding. The guitar also features a Fishman pickup mounted to the inside edge of the soundhole with a 1/4" endpin jack for situations when additional volume is needed beyond the instrument's natural projection. The finish is a smooth satin on the neck profile with a strap button added to the heel, and the high gloss nitro lacquer body finish highlights the dynamic cuts of bookmatched solid Brazilian rosewood on the back in particular. There's barely a scratch on the guitar, as it has been babied since new.
The original hardshell case is included, along with the Custom Shop paperwork.
