Up for sale, a 2017 Ibanez J. Custom RG8520ZE spot model in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. This uncommon Ibanez was produced at the Fujigen factory in Japan as part of the high-end J. Custom line, featuring a pair of EMG active humbuckers and an Edge Zero tremolo with a ZPS3 tuning stabilizer. This particular model was only produced for one year, and was a spot model exclusive to Japanese retailer Ikebe Gakki.
The selected exotic bookmatched quilted maple top features a Red Spinel finish, paired with an African mahogany body, maple neck, and bound 24-fret rosewood fretboard. The EMG pickups comprise an 81 in the bridge position and a 60 at the neck. Utilizing ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the EMG 81 was designed for optimal note detail, enhanced high end cut, and fluid sustain, engineered so that lead work will slice through even the densest mix. The 60 also features close aperture coils and ceramic magnets, designed for rich harmonic overtones, a full treble response and tons of output. This Ibanez weighs 8lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Red Spinel finish highlights the notably dynamic figuring in the bookmatched quilted maple top, and there is limited checking on top just south of the tremolo route (with one microscopic finish chip in this area). Cosmetic wear is limited to a handful of small marks on the back, light pick scuffing, and a few additional faint finish scratches in the clear coat. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
