Up for sale, a 2017 Hagstrom H8-II 8-string bass in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a Road Runner padded softshell case. The original late ‘60s run of the Hagstrom H8 was the first ever mass-produced 8-string bass, used to great effect by pioneering rock icons including Noel Redding, Lemmy Kilmister, and even Jimi Hendrix. This modern reissue, produced as part of Hagstrom’s RetroScape series, captures the decidedly unique sounds of the original, with improved modern functionality and stability.
Truly a one-of-a-kind instrument sonically, the paired octave string courses result in a sound that is simultaneously powerful and rich, crisp and punchy. The proprietary Dyna-Rail humbuckers are potent, capturing the tonal spectrum of all eight strings, with focused midrange aggression at the bridge and smoother tones at the neck. Additional controls include Mid & High Cut Tone (Master Tone), Gain Reduction & High Cut (Mute), and a push/pull global coil split for single coil-style burp and grind. This H8-II weighs 9lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-86 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
