Up for sale, a 2017 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Axcess Custom in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Boasting a Red Widow gloss nitro lacquer finish over the heavily figured two-piece bookmatched carved maple top, this Custom Shop Les Paul Axcess is a rare instrument, and with its Floyd Rose tremolo, it's very much in-line with Gibson's Alex Lifeson signature model.Traditional Les Paul Custom tonewoods include the carved maple top, mahogany body and neck, and slab ebony fingerboard, and the Axcess model's heel-less neck joint, Apex headstock for added strength, and contoured, slightly more slender weight-relieved mahogany body ensure it meets the demands of modern players.The 496R and 498T humbucker pairing is hot and aggressive, with the ceramic magnet construction of the 496R neck pickup yielding incredible sustain and cutting power. This pickup has excellent treble response and increased definition, and lead playing delivers a biting, bluesy edge and rich harmonic content. The 498T "Hot Alnico" bridge pickup puts emphasis on upper midrange frequencies for enhanced crunch and sustain. The 498T is perfect for any hard rock application, easily overdriving amplifiers for a beefy, sizzling output that boosts any guitar's power and presence. Both humbuckers also have dedicated push/pull coil taps on their Tone pots for single coil sounds that greatly increase the sonic range of the instrument. The guitar weighs 8lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.The mahogany neck has a round C-shaped profile carve, shy of ‘50s depth yet offering plenty of substance and generous shoulder in every register, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The multi-ply bound ebony fretboard has pearl block inlay and flawless medium jumbo fretwire, playing cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale length with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features gold Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with metal tulip buttons, offering excellent tuning stability. The CS-prefix Custom Shop serial and additional Custom Shop badge are present, and the Apex headstock is a unique carve with a volute that terminates in a stinger running the length of the headstock.The electronics function as intended, with dedicated coil taps for the 496R and 498T humbuckers. The gold plated hardware is positively gleaming, with just a touch of patina on the humbucker covers. The Floyd Rose vibrato tailpiece is a unique feature for a Les Paul, offering the expected sharp flutters and deep divebombs. The heel-less Axcess neck paired with the slender body and generous belly carve makes for an extremely comfortable playing experience, and cosmetic wear on the gloss Red Widow finish is limited to a couple small spots of stand rash through the gloss on the back lower bout body edge, a few additional small dings and finish scratches on the back, and one small finish chip on top between the Floyd and knobs. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.An aftermarket premium hardshell case with snakeskin tolex is included.
