Up for sale, a 2017 G&L Premium L-2500 in near mint condition and in perfect working order. As the third instrument company founded by Leo Fender, G&L's instruments benefited from Leo's decades of experience at Music Man and (of course) Fender. A rare "Premium" iteration of the L-2500 platform made in Japan at the Fujigen factory exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this exceptionally well-crafted instrument easily rivals USA production, complete with G&L USA pickups and hardware. The foundation of the L-2500 is a two-piece ash body and one-piece maple neck, and this tonewood complement ensures an articulate, powerful natural acoustic response with ideal top end detail, rich midrange character, and plenty of low end heft to showcase the thick rumble of the B string. At the heart of the L-2500 is a pair of G&L's Magnetic Field Design humbuckers backed by the flexible Tri-Tone control system. The Tri-Tone system features a trio of mini toggles for pickup selection, series/parallel signal routing and active/passive operation, as well as a trio of knobs for Volume, Treble and Bass. This G&L weighs 10lbs, professionally setup with 45-125 roundwound strings here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with slight shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and 1.005" at the 12th. The original medium jumbo fretwire has its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing just a hint of wear on the crowns of frets 1-3. Notes ring out clearly up the 34" scale, and the nut measures a full 1 7/8" in width. The headstock features lightweight tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics function as intended, and the chrome plating on the hardware shines like new. The Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge transfers string energy right into the body end-grain for an incredibly resonant instrument, complete with chrome-plated brass saddles. There's barely a scratch on the Natural gloss finish, with just a couple microscopic nicks on the back lower bout body edge. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
