2017 Fender Traditional Late 68 Stratocaster Sunburst, Left-Handed w/ Hangtags, Japan MIJ

Up for sale, a left-handed 2017 Fender Traditional '68 Stratocaster in showroom clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and Fender-branded gigbag. With a gloss three-tone Sunburst finish, this Strat was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. This instrument features period-correct details including a large late '60s spec headstock, Fender F tuners, a maple cap fingerboard, and a white narrow bevel three-ply pickguard.

The trio of single coils have plenty of chime and sparkle, governed by a five-way pickup selector switch. The bridge pickup has great cut, while the in-between settings on the switch have quintessential Strat quack, and the neck pickup is bell-like and round. Weighing 7lbs 7oz, we've dialed in this Stratocaster here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a chunky U-shaped profile with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .870” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The maple cap fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius with perfect slender vintage-style fretwire that retains its full factory height. The guitar plays effortlessly up the 25 1/2" scale, and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the Fender F tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics work as they should, with a trio of flat pole piece single coil pickups wired to USA-made CTS pots. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. The classic three-tone Sunburst gloss finish with white pickguard tops off the late '60s look, and the chrome hardware and plastic parts are near mint, with the clear protective factory film still intact on the tremolo cavity cover. Cosmetically, there's barely a scratch on the guitar.

The original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags are included.
