This Jazz Bass offers a clear and balanced natural acoustic tone, translated faithfully via the pickup pair. The bridge pickup has the power, burp, and presence that helps a Jazz Bass cut through in ensemble situations, and it's easy to dial in the right amount of midrange growl and fundamental thump when balancing the sound between the two single coils. The tone can get quite smooth and wide too, simply by rolling off the bridge pickup Volume and Master Tone control, for a thick sound that doesn't lack definition. Weighing 8lbs 9oz, this Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 45-100 strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled edges, measuring .800" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The notably thick slab rosewood fretboard has dot inlay and flawless slender fretwire, playing cleanly in all registers up the 34" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2" in width, and on the headstock, the clover button tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
The electronics function flawlessly, the chrome plating on the hardware shines like new, and the red tortoise pickguard and original trio of knobs round out the plastics. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Olympic White finish is limited to just a scant few microscopic nicks on the lower bout body edge The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
