Up for sale, a 2017 Fender Hybrid 60s Jazz Bass in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. Made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and select international territories, the Hybrid ‘60s Jazz Bass is an upscale, discontinued model that blends old and new, featuring a pair of Fender USA Vintage pickups, USA-made CTS pots, a satin neck profile finish, a carved bone nut, and modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius on the slab rosewood fretboard.
The instrument features the classic tonewood pairing of an alder body and maple neck capped with a slab rosewood fretboard. Acoustically, the bass has a smooth, balanced sound, and the pair of factory-installed Fender USA Vintage Jazz Bass pickups deliver strong note attack and excellent sustain. The bridge pickup has the power, burp, and presence that helps a Jazz Bass cut through in ensemble situations, and it's easy to dial in the right amount of midrange growl and fundamental thump when balancing the sound between the two single coils. The tone can get quite broad too, simply by rolling off the bridge pickup Volume and Master Tone control, for a thick sound that doesn't lack definition. The bass weighs 9lbs 10oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 45-100 strings, easy-playing action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and 990" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the slender fretwire is practically perfect. This bass plays cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 1/2" in width. On the headstock, the long stem clover button tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well with full-size baseplates and flawless nickel plating. The peghead also sports a correct '62-style "Fender Jazz Bass" decal.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, including the pair of factory installed USA-made Fender Vintage pickups wired to USA-made 250k CTS pots. The chrome bridge base and control plate shine like new, and plastics comprise the knobs and the notably clean three-ply white pickguard. The gloss custom color Surf Green finish has a saturation and tint that pushes towards Seafoam Green, with just a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is immaculate.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the hangtags.
