Up for sale, a 2017 Fender Aerodyne Stratocaster in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An uncommon model, this Strat was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and features a gloss Black finish with matching headstock and cream body binding. Loaded with a trio of staggered pole single coil pickups, this guitar delivers an array of classic Strat tonalities easily accessible through the five-way selector switch. There’s plenty of sparkle on tap; shimmering snap at the bridge, rounder, bell-like tones at the neck, and classic Strat quack at the “in-between” positions. Weighing 7lbs 4oz, we’ve had this Strat professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders, lightly rolled fretboard edges and a smooth satin finish, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .945” at the 12th. The slab 22-fret rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4” radius and retains the flawless stock slender fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock bone nut measures 42mm (1.650”) in width. The matching Black headstock features Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and JD17-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics function as intended, with a traditional Stratocaster control layout and five-way pickup selector switch. The chrome-plated hardware includes a vintage-style Strat vibrato which anchors with six screws and is slightly recessed into the body. Original plastics are well-kept, with some light pick scuffing across the guard. Wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to a scant few small nicks on the lower bout on the back, and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
A gigbag is included.
