Up for sale, a 2017 Collings D2H dreadnought acoustic guitar in exceptional condition, complete with the original hardshell case. One of the premier acoustic builders of the modern era, Collings instruments exude quality, passion, and precise craftsmanship in every aspect of their construction. This particular D2H is no exception, with Pre-War scalloped X-bracing on the herringbone-framed Sitka spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, and a Honduran mahogany neck with Collings' Modified V neck profile carve. This Collings offers quintessential dreadnought power and articulation, with the low end kick and authority of the best square shoulder 14 fret acoustics. The instrument has a piano-like clarity and a sparkling, rich treble register that’s bright and immediate yet never strident. It's the kind of acoustic guitar perfection that blends everything we love about a well-played vintage instrument with the sonic refinement and incredible roadworthiness of a modern acoustic. The guitar weighs 4lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 12-53 bronze strings. The Honduran mahogany neck has Collings' Modified V neck profile carve which is not too harsh in its V-ness, with just a hair of roundness in the shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges for a particularly inviting carve, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .925" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard sports small snowflake inlay and slender, vintage-style fretwire which shows just a touch of uniform wear beneath the strings on the crowns of frets 1-3 and virtually no wear further up the board. The hand-carved bone nut measures 1 3/4" in width (a custom option). The peghead veneer is a high gloss stained exotic ebony, with the Collings logo cleanly inlaid in mother of pearl. The nickel Waverly tuning machines have a smooth 16:1 ratio. On the body, subtle accents include a small teardrop tortoise pickguard and impeccable herringbone binding around the perimeter of the top. The ebony bridge features a carved and compensated bone saddle which has good height. Visible through the soundhole, the Collings label has the D2H designation. Cosmetically, this guitar is very well-kept, exhibiting some very minor nicks and finish scratches on the back, and more restrained wear on top, with light pick scuffing across the strum path. A strap button has been added to the treble side of the neck heel, and the gloss lacquer finish is clean and smooth on the neck profile. The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
