Up for sale, a 2016 Taylor 512ce Grand Concert acoustic guitar in near-mint condition, complete with the original hardshell case. A custom ordered model with a 1 7/8" not width, the 512ce is a fingerpickers dream, with a 24 7/8" scale and body size that makes for an intimate playing experience. All-solid tonewoods include a V-Class braced Western Red Cedar top; tropical mahogany back, sides and neck; and a tropical mahogany neck capped with a Crelicam ebony fretboard. The tone is extremely detailed, with surprising depth and a certain punchy, round quality to the plain strings. The guitar retains Taylor’s high treble brilliance and clarity, and while engineered to be sympathetic to fingerpicking, the guitar is also highly responsive to flatpicking with a broad dynamic range and tons of projection. Weighing 4lbs 2oz, this Taylor benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 12-54 strings, easy-playing action and accurate intonation.
The tropical mahogany neck has a slender, soft V-shaped profile carve, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard features grained ivoroid Century inlays and original slender frets which have their full factory height, exhibiting only very light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. With 14 frets clear of the body, the cutaway allows for easy access to the instrument's entire 20 fret range, and the guitar plays cleanly up the 24 7/8" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 7/8" in width, a custom ordered feature a full 1/8" wider than standard spec for the 512ce model. The headstock has a polished ebony veneer and matching truss rod cover, and the black chrome-finished Gotoh tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch as intended.
The Expression System 2 electronics feature three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a nuanced, dynamic range of acoustic tonalities, and together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. The body features tortoise binding on the top and back as well as tortoise binding on the inside soundhole edge, along with a matching tortoise pickguard. The ebony bridge features a compensated saddle for optimal intonation, and the saddle has ample height for decades of future adjustment.
The high gloss body finish is exceedingly clean, with just a few tiny marks, and the satin-finished neck profile is nigh-flawless. A strap button has also been added to the treble side of the neck heel.
The original dark brown Taylor hardshell case with red crushed velvet interior is included.
