Up for sale, a 2016 Satellite Coronet in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and finished in a relic'd Inverness Green. A very rare boutique take on the classic Epiphone Coronet platform, this Satellite model is an expertly crafted, USA-made no-corners-cut instrument.Sadly, despite having the official trademark for the Coronet name, Satellite's fantastic Coronet model was discontinued due to aggressive (and unwarranted) legal action from Gibson, and no future Satellite Coronets will be produced. This 2016 model was from the first year of Coronet production, which ceased in 2020.Crafted from lightweight mahogany, this Coronet is fitted with its stock bridge position P-90 pickup. Paired with the mahogany construction, the guitar yields plenty of midrange richness and roar, with a signature growl and broad dynamic range, very sensitive to pick attack. Featherweight at 5lbs 8oz, we've had this Satellite professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a substantial neck profile, more U than C in its shape due to the particularly deep and pronounced shoulders, measuring .925" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. On the rosewood fretboard, this Satellite features pearl dot inlay and original medium jumbo frets which have good meat and crown, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The carved bone nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features genuine Kluson single line strip tuners along with an inked serial number and bikini-style logo plate, echoing the same style plate used on the earliest Epiphone Coronets. The electronics function as intended, with the P-90 pickup wired to Master Volume and Tone knobs with Bourns potentiometers. Hardware includes an aged nickel wraparound tailpiece. The finish is categorized as Inverness Green, yet is a much lighter more lime-y shade than the Gibson color of the same name. The finish was shot and relic'd by Josh Grove of Protocaster in thin, 100% non-catalyzed nitrocellulose lacquer, accented by a thick one-ply swirly red tortoise pickguard. The factory relic treatment includes prominent horizontal lacquer checking and various marks of simulated wear. The gloss finish on the profile length is clean and smooth, and given the complete lack of fretwear, it’s safe to say this Satellite has been sparingly played since new.The original brown tolex thermometer case is included.
