Up for sale, a 2016 Fender American Vintage ‘65 Jaguar in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and all hangtags and case candy. Offered for just a few short years at the end of the original American Vintage run and now discontinued, the '65 American Vintage models are exquisitely well-made instruments, very faithful to their vintage forbearers. This particular Jaguar features a "Flash Coat" nitro lacquer three-tone Sunburst finish. A rebranding of the Thin Skin concept, the finish is pure, thin nitro without a poly sealer coat, ensuring optimal acoustic resonance.Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and bound Indian rosewood fingerboard, yielding a clear, resonant natural acoustic tone. Plugged in, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, with plenty of twang and sparkle in the top end and the slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart. The stock AV65 gray bobbin single coils are snappier, brighter, and more vintage-correct than previous Jaguar reissue pickup winds, and the guitar offers a balanced, sweet sound and great clarity for strummed passages and shimmering lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds. Weighing 8lbs 1oz, we've had this Jaguar professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar (where we specialize in offset Fender instruments) with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a moderately chunky C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and a gentle increase in overall heft in the higher registers, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features a 7 1/4" vintage-spec radius, pearloid dot inlay and flawless slender fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width, and on the headstock, the Jaguar waterslide decal is immaculate and the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly. All of the electronics work as intended, and the chrome control plates shine like new. The string mute engages easily with viable foam, also well out of the way of the strings when disengaged. The vibrato actuates smoothly, working well for subtle surfy shimmies or deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease and setup so that there's a proper break angle between the bridge and tailpiece.Cosmetically, the nitro lacquer "flash coat" three-tone Sunburst finish is vibrant and glossy, essentially a rebranded version of Fender's Thin Skin finish alchemy. There’s subtle vertical lacquer checking on the top central to the lower bout, and more prominent checking central to the back. This is an exceedingly well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to a scant few faint scratches and a couple microscopic dings on the body as a whole. The smooth “flash coat” gloss on the neck profile is immaculate. The original Fender-branded, G&G Deluxe black tolex hardshell case is included, along with all original hangtags and case candy.***We are dealers for the Mastery M1 bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar Jaguar pickups, any of which can be installed or included prior to shipment for an additional charge***
