Up for sale, a 2016 Fender American Standard Precision Bass in showroom clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and a host of hangtags and case candy. While similar to an early '60s Precision Bass in its tonal intent, the American Standard model offers a few modern, player-friendly features including string through body construction for increased resonance and sustain, medium jumbo fretwire on the slab rosewood fretboard, and upgraded hardware. An alder-bodied bass, this Precision has a smooth, balanced tonal response with plenty of broad thump and excellent articulation via the original split-coil pickup. The bass weighs 8lbs 10oz and balances well on a strap. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this bass is strung with roundwound 45-100 strings and dialed in for comfortable action and accurate intonation.
The one-piece maple neck has a medium C profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and just enough shoulder to feel substantial, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features the original flawless medium jumbo frets which have their full factory height and plenty of meat. The bass has a full 34" scale length, with a modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius and 1 5/8" nut width. On the headstock, the Hipshot/Fender tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch well, and these lightweight, high ratio gears eliminate any potential neck dive.
The traditional electronics work as they should, with the stock pickup wired to Master Volume and Tone controls with knurled metal knobs. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, and the upgraded black pickguard contrasts with the bright Olympic White gloss finish. There's barely a scratch on the body, and the neck profile has a flawless satin finish.
The original hardshell case is included, along with all of the hangtags and case candy.
