Up for sale, a 2015 Gibson Memphis Figured 1963 ES-335 TDC Block VOS in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the a hardshell case. A rare model produced in limited numbers at Gibson’s lauded and now shuttered Memphis, TN factory from 2015-17, this ES-335 features a bevy of golden age Gibson specs including correct ‘63-’67 body shape and construction techniques, no-wire ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles, small block inlay on the bound rosewood fretboard, a pair of Memphis Historic Spec (MHS) PAF humbuckers, and deeply figured curly maple body highlighted by a gloss Cherry VOS nitro lacquer finish.
The tonewood complement comprises a curly maple/poplar/maple body with a period correct “window” centerblock and quartersawn spruce bracing on the top/back, a mahogany neck, and a bound rosewood fretboard. The MHS handwound humbuckers deliver spongy low end, a complex, tailored midrange, and detailed highs, consistent with Gibson's PAF ("Patent Applied For") pickups. The pickups balance both exquisite clarity and rich growl, with a slightly hotter bridge position and a sweet, smooth-sounding neck position humbucker that has great bloom and complex harmonic content. This ES-335 weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
