Up for sale, a 2015 Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case and all case candy and hangtags. A more vintage-correct iteration of the '52 Tele only available for a few short years at the tail end of the American Vintage line, this discontinued model rivals Custom Shop quality and was reimagined in '13 with numerous period-correct details. This version of the '52 Tele platform is stunningly well-executed, with a "flash coat" thin nitro lacquer Butterscotch finish, revoiced American Vintage pickups, a thicker, more vintage-correct U shaped neck profile carve and a bone nut.
Weighing 7lbs 12oz, this Tele sparkles and chimes with the best, delivering the sinewy snap and chewy twang that put Fender on the map over six decades ago. Thanks in part to the "flash coat" thin lacquer finish, this Tele is very resonant, with a rich, dynamic natural acoustic sound with impressive clarity, midrange complexity, and treble-centric definition. We've had this Tele professionally setup and dialed in to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings and low action.
The maple neck has a chunky U-shaped profile carve that fills the palm with plenty of meat and substance while fretting easily, measuring .880" deep at the 1st fret and 1.005" at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the frets are extremely clean with their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The synthetic bone nut measures 1.650" in width. On the headstock, the Fender-branded Kluson Deluxe-style single line tuners turn very smoothly and hold pitch as intended. The neck heel is pencil dated 07-15, with numerous factory stamps on the neck heel and in the pocket.
All of the electronics are stock with untouched solder, with Fender's black bobbin pickups, cloth-covered leads, and CTS pots. Unlike earlier iterations of the American Vintage '52 Tele model, this version has modern, player-friendly pickup switching with the conventional bridge/bridge+neck/neck options. The chrome plating on the hardware is near mint, with light surface patina across the trio of brass saddles.
The subtly transparent Butterscotch finish is accented by a single-ply black pickguard which shows some light pick scuffing on the treble side, and Fender even went to the trouble of using all flathead screws for an authentic look. A well-kept example, especially given the very thin "flash coat" nitro lacquer finish, wear on this Tele is limited to some small finish chips on the body perimeter, scuffing in the clear coat on the lower bout on the back, and just a few additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
This guitar comes complete with the original tweed Fender G&G deluxe hardshell case with red plush interior, as well as every single original hangtag and piece of case candy.
