Up for sale, a 2015 Pin-Up "Andrea" S-Style electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Handcrafted in the USA by Eric Daw, Pin-Up instruments are among the finest boutique Fender-style guitars on the market today with hand-selected tonewoods and premium components throughout. Featuring a one-piece alder body finished in a relic'd Fiesta Red, a maple neck, and a dark slab rosewood fingerboard, this S-style instrument harnesses this traditional tonewood complement to great effect. Extremely lively in its natural acoustic response, this S-style's tonal properties are channeled through a hand-wound black bobbin pickup trio, also made in-house by Eric Daw. These pickups feature alnico magnets and offer a traditional Stratocaster tonal palette, with sparkling cut in the bridge position and a sweet, throaty neck pickup with a bell-like chime. Weighing 7lbs 14oz, we've dialed in the setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C ‘60s-style profile carve with moderate shoulder, easy-playing with just enough substance and lightly rolled fretboard edges for added comfort. The profile measures .845" deep at the 1st fret and .965" at the 12th, with a smooth nitro gloss finish, tastefully relic'd to replicate palm wear (mostly behind frets 1-7) for a particularly fast-feeling neck. The rosewood fretboard is a very dark and thick slab with a modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius, featuring slender fretwire which shows only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the hand-carved bone nut measures 1.650" in width. The headstock features Gotoh-made Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well, along with a Pin-Up waterslide decal.
The electronics include CTS pots, a premium tone cap, cloth-covered leads, and a Switchcraft five-way pickup selector switch governing the hand-wound pickup trio. The relic'd nickel hardware includes the jack cup and vibrato unit, which actuates easily for subtle gestures and deep dives. Plastics include a three-ply mint green pickguard and aged pickup covers and knobs. The aging applied by Pin Up on the pure nitro lacquer Fiesta Red finish includes shattered glass lacquer checking with various finish chips and minor marks which have ostensibly occured beyond the factory relic treatment. The back of the body and headstock also features pinup decals unique to the instrument, a signature of Daw's handcrafted guitars.
