Up for sale, a 2015 Dr. Z Z-Lux 1x12” combo amplifier in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original pair of footswitches, padded cover, and warranty card/COA. In many ways the culmination of Dr. Z’s years of amp-crafting experience, the Z-Lux combines many of the best features from the entire Dr. Z line into a single compact tone machine.Hand-wired with carefully selected and matched componentry, the Z-Lux delivers big, warm vintage-flavored tube tones. Cleans are juicy and well-rounded, and distortion is smooth and articulate. The Z-Lux is also quite flexible, with features including a Half/Full Power switch; variable, footswitchable Boost; and footswitchable tube-driven spring Reverb and tube Tremolo. User-friendly controls include Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, Master, and Reverb knobs, with Speed and Depth knobs for the Tremolo effect.The cathode-biased Z-Lux starts with the front end of the MAZ design and uses a combination of hand-rolled Jupiter caps, Mallory 150s, and classic Sprague Orange Drop caps specifically selected for each stage of the preamp. The power section is driven by a quartet of 6V6 power tubes, switchable between 2 tubes (20 watts) or 4 tubes (40 watts) via the half power switch. The tube complement includes a quartet of JJ 6V6s, with a bevy of preamp tubes from the likes of Tung Sol and EHX (the rectifier is solid state).The cabinet is fitted with an Eminence Z-12 12” speaker, designed by Eminence in collaboration with Dr. Z. It’s an American-voiced, 50 watt design, complementing the naturally vibrant tones of the Z-Lux. The speaker is tight and punchy, with ample richness and warmth balanced by sparkling highs.The Italian poplar cabinet was designed to be as lightweight as possible without compromising any sturdiness, sporting black tolex. There's barely a mark on the enclosure, and this Z has been immaculately kept since new.The two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch and variable Boost footswitches are included, along with the padded Z slip cover and original warranty/COA.
