Up for sale, a 2015 Borys Custom B420 Special in near-mint, 100% original condition, complete with the original hardshell case. A lifelong scholar in the trade, master luthier Roger Borys is best known for crafting versatile, high-quality instruments designed specifically with the jazz player in mind. Established in 1974, Boris Guitars builds acoustics and archtops with premium craftsmanship and components, and this Custom B420 Special features a hand-carved and graduated spruce top, flame maple back/sides, and an ebony fretboard, outfitted with a Kent Armstrong PAF floating pickup.
Boasting a 17” lower bout width and 3” depth, this archtop delivers terrific projection with expansive bass warmth balanced by sweet, immediate treble detail. There’s an overall smoothness to the sound and a bold, throaty zing, accentuated by the 12-52 flatwound strings. The floating Kent Armstrong PAF pickup is rich-sounding, faithfully capturing the natural sound of the instrument with a focused-yet-open low end, ideal for reproducing complex chord voicings. This Custom B420 Special has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.
