Up for sale, a 2014 Tokai Love Rock model HLS-155F in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag and hangtags. Crafted in Japan, this Love Rock is a higher tiered model, faithfully capturing the finer points of the late 1950s Les Paul Standard, featuring PAF-style humbuckers, a solid mahogany body, a two-pieced bookmatched tiger flame maple cap with proper '50s carve, and a chunky “baseball bat” one-piece mahogany neck topped with a bound Madagascar rosewood fretboard.

The traditional LP-style tonewood complement yields a defined, powerful acoustic voice, offering natural treble cut and rich warmth, faithfully captured by the pair of Tokai's MH-2 PAF-style humbuckers. These vintage-voiced humbuckers meter at 7.5k ohms and deliver the quintessential LP tonal goods, with sweet trebles, tight-yet-airy lows, and a slight midrange scoop for ideal clarity in all pickup positions. Weighing 8lbs 8oz, this HLS-155F has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a long tenon joint and a substantial C-shaped “baseball bat” profile carve with generous shoulders and significant heft, filling the palm and measuring .925” deep at the 1st fret and 1.005” at the 12th. The bound Madagascar rosewood fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlay, and the medium fretwire is flawless. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the derlin nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock has the correct 17 degree pitch and sports the “open book” shape, with gold Love Rock script, and the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with lightly greened keystone buttons.

All the electronics work as intended, with the classic Les Paul/Love Rock control layout comprising a three-way pickup selector switch plus individual Volume and Tone knobs for each humbucker. The nickel-plated hardware all shines like new, including the pickup covers, LS-VB ABR-1-style bridge and stopbar. Plastics comprise the amber switch tip, cream switch surround and pickup covers, and a deeply ambered quartet of bonnet knobs. The original pickguard is also included, having never been installed.

The Violin Finish gloss sunburst highlights the tight, straight tiger flame in the two-piece flame maple top, and cosmetic wear is limited to a handful of faint finish scratches on the back. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original Tokai-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the hangtags and the pickguard.
