Up for sale, a 2014 Music Man Bongo 4HH in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, finished in gloss Black and complete with the original hardshell case. As Music Man tells it, the Bongo is a "well-balanced, comfortable and resonant modern bass with effortless playability." Tonewoods comprise a basswood body, maple neck, and a thick 24 fret slab rosewood fretboard, and the instrument has a smooth, balanced natural acoustic quality that provides the ideal platform for a pair of Music Man's Neodymium magnet humbuckers.Combined with 18v active circuitry and a four-band EQ, the Bongo has a powerful and versatile range of tonalities. The extra-stout pole pieces and wide windings provided by the humbuckers ensure a solid sonic foundation, and with the 18v preamp, the Bongo benefits from excellent headroom. As a result, everyone from shoegazer-era rockers to funk masters have enjoyed the extreme punch this instrument has to offer. This Bongo weighs 8lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a satin finish on the slender C-shaped profile carve, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features lightly rolled edges for added comfort, retaining flawless medium jumbo fretwire. The bass plays easily up the 34" scale, with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The intonated nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock features clover button tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics function as intended, with stacked knobs for the four-band active EQ, a center detent pickup Blend knob, and a Master Volume. The chrome plating is positively gleaming on the bridge, and the sculpted five-bolt neck plate rounds out the hardware. The gloss Black finish (not to be confused with currently available satin-finished Bongos) is accented by a multi-ply black pickguard.Cosmetic wear is limited to a couple minor marks between the two forward knobs, a couple similarly small dings on the edge of the belly contour on the back, and a few exceedingly faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original Music Man molded hardshell case is included.
