Up for sale, a 2014 Mosrite USA Ventures Model 1964 vintage reissue electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and stickers. Produced by Mosrite licensee Fillmore in Japan, the "USA" line was made in exceedingly small quantities. While the hardware and bodies/necks were produced to extremely high standards by Fillmore in Japan, these guitars were assembled by Semie Moseley's daughter, Dana Moseley, in the USA, with custom pickups wound by Dana. All USA-made parts were used in the wiring harness as well. Dana was an employee of Fillmore at the time, and this partnership ceased in 2015, shortly before Fillmore's era of Mosrite production ended. This rare reissue replicates all the essential features of early Mosrite Ventures Model instruments, with smooth knobs and pickup covers, a sandcast Vibramute tailpiece, and prominent German Carve on the basswood body framed by multi-ply binding. The Dana Moseley-wound single coil pickups deliver ample midrange content and treble-centric cut, metering at 10.5k ohms and providing an authoritative sound that's quintessential Mosrite. Weighing 8lbs 12oz, this Mosrite has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has slender, fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve which stays consistent in depth as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .795" deep at both the 1st fret and 12th frets. The bound dark rosewood fretboard has fret edge binding, and the very slender frets show light uniform wear beneath the strings on the crowns of frets 1-3, with wear extending exclusively beneath the plain strings to fret 9. The guitar plays cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. A faithful reissue in every respect, this Mosrite boasts a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 1/2" fretboard width at the zero fret just forward of the aluminum nut. The headstock features Kluson-style tuners, and the serial number is stamped on the last fret into the rosewood, just like vintage examples. The headstock features the "Mosrite of California" text.On the body, all of the stock electronics work as they should, with the original single coil pickups metering at 10.5k ohms in both positions. True to her father’s legacy, these pickups have a handmade sort of feel, with the same styrofoam backing seen on Semie’s pickups, with the aluminum shielding on the back signed by Dana. The CTS pots have untouched solder joints, dating to 2014. The '64 look is rounded out with a white pearloid three-ply pickguard, smooth (non-embossed) pickup covers, and chrome-plated metal Mosrite knobs machined with smooth tops (the design that predated the more common "M" knobs). The “Vibramute” vibrato is extremely smooth and elegant, touch-sensitive in its responsiveness and made to exacting vintage spec with a sandcast base and chrome plated string anchor and arm. The vibrato arm even has the subtle "elbow" seen on early Ventures Models, a testament to all the tiny details faithfully captured by Fillmore on this model. The gloss Candy Apple Red finish shows some faint finish scratches on the back, tiny dings along the back lower bout body edge, and one shallow mark where the forearm crosses the top just inset from the binding. The gloss finish on the neck profile is nigh flawless. The original gray faux alligator tolex hardshell case is included, with some wear on one corner of the lid. The original Fillmore "USA" stickers are also included.
