Up for sale, a 2014 Fender Mustang ‘69 vintage reissue model MG69/MH in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. Made exclusively for the Japanese market and uncommon outside its country of origin, this Mustang model boasts a Candy Apple Red gloss finish and matching headstock. There's plenty to love about this Mustang, from the lightweight and resonant body to the pair of stock single coil pickups that deliver plenty of snap and twang. The crisp, clear voice of the instrument when strummed acoustically translates well through the pickups. Of course one of the most fun sounds on the Mustang is the out-of-phase setting, engaged when both on/off/on pickup selector switches are at their innermost or outermost points. The quack and spank of that particular setting is unique to the Mustang, and there's plenty of tonal range between the two pickups, with meatier sounds when the neck pickup is soloed and more aggressive twang at the bridge. This Mustang is featherweight at 6lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve at the nut with full shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard sports a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius and practically perfect slender fretwire that shows just a touch of wear beneath the G and B strings on the crowns of frets 1-4. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. At 24", the scale length is ideal for smaller hands and players looking to execute chord extensions that might be a bit more of a stretch at Fender's full scale. The bone nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The Candy Apple Red-finished headstock features Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The “Made in Japan” text and JD14-prefix serial number are present above the F-embossed four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, with Master Volume and Tone controls governing the pickup pair. Plastics include the original knobs and the dimensional white pearloid pickguard, and the chrome-plated hardware shines like new. The vibrato unit is complete with its original black tipped arm, actuating smoothly and working in concert with the bridge's barrel saddles. The gloss Candy Apple Red finish is bright and bold, and this is an extremely well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to just a couple tiny dings on top between the vibrato and control plate. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included.
